Rachel Coyer, VMD


Dr. Rachel Coyer grew up on a farm in a small town in Western Pennsylvania called Slippery Rock. She attended Bucknell University and graduated with honors in cell biology/biochemistry. During her university years, she spend time in Ecuador working with animals in a Tropical Ecology Program in Quito and also working with animals as veterinary assistant in Lewisburg, PA. From these experiences, she discovered medicine and animal care were both passions for her and elected to dedicate herself to veterinary medicine.

She attended the University of Pennsylvania where she worked with both large and small animals. After graduation, she worked in Maine and Western Pennsylvania before settling into a position in Doylestown, PA for three years. After working as an associate with cats and dogs, she decided to further specialize, and she moved to West Chester to work for the advancement of feline medicine and the improvement of feline health care.

Alba is her star kitty who made her official debut on the hospital's business cards. She is often found rejoicing in a sunbeam or wild after a laser pointer. Dr. Coyer and her husband, Paul, now live happily in West Chester with Alba and their dog, Olive.

Alan Glassman, VMD

Dr. Glassman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He also holds a Master of Science degree in animal nutrition from the University of California at Davis. Alan practiced general small animal medicine and surgery for 13 years before specializing in feline medicine in 1994, when he opened the cat hospital. His wife, Gina, is an optometrist and they have 13 "kids": 4 indoor cats, a barn cat, 1 dog, 3 horses, a bunny named DaVinci and the newest addition to the family, 3 Lady Gouldian finches. When Dr. Glassman is not at the cat hospital, he may be found on a nearby golf course or vacationing on a cruise ship, where he gives enrichment program lectures on Pet CPR, Geriatric Pet Diseases, Pets and Allergies, and Common Pet Behavioral Problems.

Sharon O'Toole, VMD


Dr. Sharon O'Toole is a New England native, born and raised in Worcester, MA. She had many animals growing up and knew from a young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She received her Bachelor's Degree with Honors in Biology from Mount Holyoke College in Amherst, MA. Dr. O'Toole then went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She was employed as a full-time associate veterinarian in practices in the Pottstown and Downingtown areas before deciding to specialize in feline medicine.

Dr. O'Toole has been working at Chester County Cat Hospital since 2005. She lives in Downingtown with her husband, Scott, and their 4 young children. She and her husband spend most of their free time running here and there to children's activities and occasionally can be found out with her husband's hot air balloon. Dr. O'Toole recently hand raised a litter of 5 kittens with her family and kept (only) 2 of them.
